Reducing Stress in the Workplace
With the new year officially in full-swing, workplace stress is at an all-time high. But have no fear – we’ve come up with some helpful tips to combat workplace stress so you can prioritize your health and wellness this year.
Eat Your Veggies
When it comes to improving your health, the best place to start is your plate. Make it a priority to eat healthier this year by consuming more fruit and vegetables. Not only can this give you a natural energy boost throughout the day, but it can also help to improve your overall productivity, in turn reducing your stress and improving your efficiency.
Drink Plenty of Water
It can be tempting to reach for another cup of coffee when you’re feeling stressed at work, but it’s important to be drinking plenty of water throughout the day as well. Studies have shown that consuming water can help to reduce the level of cortisol in your body, a common stress hormone. If you find yourself forgetting to drink water throughout the day, consider setting some reminders so you can stay properly hydrated and (hopefully) stress-free.
Prioritize Your Zzz’s
Lack of sleep can cause problems with attention span, problem solving abilities, and other factors that can be linked to increased levels of stress in the workplace. Avoid feeling like you’re running on low fuel by prioritizing your sleep during the week. Studies have shown that getting the recommended 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night can help to improve our energy, efficiency and productivity levels while reducing stress, and increasing overall happiness.
Find What Works For You
Every person is different, which means what helps you reduce stress is entirely personal and up to you! While some people enjoy unwinding in a more creative capacity, such as drawing, painting, or journaling, others may find more relief through exercise, spending time with loved ones, listening to music, or being outside in the fresh air.
No matter how you choose to unwind, be sure to continue prioritizing your health and wellness throughout 2022.
